Specifications

Both the carrier and containment pipe components of Drain-Guard DWV are certified to applicable ASTM standards and listed by third-party agencies.

Standard Specification for Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Drain, Waste, and Vent Pipe and Fittings. ASTM D2665 is included in Table 702.1 of the 2012 edition of IPC (International Plumbing Code). ASTM D2665 is included in Table 701.1 of the 2012 edition of the UPC (Uniform Plumbing Code).

Polyvinylchloride (PVC) and chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) drain, waste, and vent pipe and pipe fittings. CSA B181.2 is included in Table 702.1 and Table 702.2 of the 2012 edition of IPC.

Standard Specification for Rigid Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds and Chlorinated Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (CPVC) Compounds, having a cell classification of 12454. ASTM D1784 is included in Sections 301.1.2 and 301.2, of the 2012 edition of IPC.

Standard Specification for Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe, Schedules 40, 80, and 120. ASTM D1785 is included in Table 701.1 of the 2012 edition of UPC.

Drain-GuardTM DWV prevents damage due to condensation because it possesses superior thermal properties compared to cast iron. The outer secondary DWV pipe safely contains any possible condensation that may occur on the exterior of the primary DWV pipe, protecting the surrounding area from condensation damage. In addition, stormwater lines may not require insulation.

The larger inside diameter and lower surface roughness factors of Drain-Guard DWV, compared to cast iron DWV systems, ensure a noticeably higher flow capacity – Drain-Guard exhibits improved performance with low flow water closets. PVC material is also resistant to scaling or pitting which ensures continued performance. PVC is ideal for use with DWV systems that may contain cleaning agents that may corrode traditional materials.
